It has been 10 years since we lost our co-worker, mentor and friend Investigator Ed Frank. Over the past 10 years, representatives from the Colonie Police Department formed Team 301 in his memory. In an effort to raise funds for cancer research, specifically the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Team 301 has participated in events such as the Boston Marathon, the Pine Bush Triathlon, the Warrior Dash, the Hudson Mohawk Marathon and Half Marathon. Collectively, we have donated tens of thousands of dollars in his memory and in memory of those who we have lost to cancer.
Team 301 would like this tradition to continue. For our 10 year anniversary, we have our eyes set on a new challenge, the 2016 Adirondack Ragnar Relay. On September 23rd, teams of consisting of 12 runners will depart from Saratoga Springs heading North. With one runner on the course at all times, the teams will run for over 24 hours, collectively covering the 196.2 mile course to Lake Placid. Each runner will be responsible for running three legs of the race (1.7 miles – 8.7 miles / leg) for a total of between 11.4 and 20.2 miles. As one runner is on the course, the rest of the team is resting, recuperating and cheering. This is truly a TEAM oriented event.
Team 301 will be a part of this challenge. Lou DiNuzzo, Nick Burns, Rich Villa, Thomas Breslin, Derek Breslin, Phil Gerwitz, Robert Willey, David Mink, Nick Layne, Alex Rinaldi, Sean Weiss and Todd Weiss have accepted this challenge on behalf of Team 301. Nicki Tonic and Jason DePaulo will be our van drivers and John O'Donnell, Rob Donnelly and Steve Morrison have accepted volunteer roles on the course.
All of these current and former Town of Colonie employees are looking forward to representing Colonie in support of Dana Farber in the fight against cancer.
Collectively, we all have been impacted by cancer. Please help support our Team in honor of all of our family and friends. If you have the ability to do so, please consider making a donation to Dana Farber in support of our team at the following website:
Thank you in advance for your consideration and your continued support.
